When were you involved in GLO and in what role?

‘I joined as a member of staff in The GLO Bookshop in 2022.’

Can you share a significant memory of that time?

‘My most prominent memory is of a young lad who came into the shop and was flustered because he couldn’t find an eraser ‘without Jesus on it’. His granny explained that he loved Jesus, but his Daddy didn’t, and he didn’t want to get into trouble. That really touched my heart – there was something lovely about the faith of that little boy, and him and his daddy are still on my prayer list today.’

Why have you recommended this book?

‘This book explores how the hurry of life has taken over society at every level. John Mark juxtaposes this with Jesus, who walked the earth for 30 something years, yet condensed His ministry into the last 3-and-a-half. He never gave the impression of being hurried, and He always had time to just ‘be’. Even when He saw the disciples struggling in the storm, He walked towards them on the water. It struck me that I wanted to follow Christ, yet my life was full of rush, hurry, and stress – the complete opposite of His. This book encouraged me to take a step back and focus on sharing time with God. It taught me to bring God into my day in a new (or very old) and everyday kind of way, and showed that a successful life can only be successful if the reference point is Christ.’
